DESCRIPTION:

Sarah Alexander beach house necklace is a bohemian style necklace for relaxed styling. Featuring Green White Jade and Aqua Calci. Both semi precious stones are cut as briolette’s to bring out the natural beauty of the stone. In addition to the main stones the necklace also features a smaller round cut Labradorite as a detail to the chain. Set in 14ct gold plated jewellers brass and finished in a high shine finish. The beach house necklace comes as a double anchor chain with an 18″ length. The chain has a lobster clasp and is fitted with 2″ extension for adjustable length. Please note: Due to the unique nature of semi precious stone each stone is cut individually and as a consequence variation in gemstone colour and opaqueness may occur.

Their design collaboration began 3 decades ago when they met and studied alongside each other at prestigious design institution Goldsmiths College, University of London. Sarah went on to work in the design industry in both London and New York. Whilst Alexander, designed within the largest advertising agency in Copenhagen, Denmark.

MATERIALS:

Labradorite:

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral most commonly found in Madagascar, Scandinavia and Russia. With a beautiful iridescence ranging in colour tones of green and blues. It contains flashes of gold and peacock making each stone unique. Named in 1770 after Labrador in Canada this gemstone has a more ancient history. Originally used by the Inuit’s it was revered due to their belief that the Northern Lights were trapped within the stone. It is thought to be the stone of transformation and helpful to impart strength at times of change.

Aqua Calci:

Aqua Calci is a type of Aqua Chalcedony with a slightly more vibrant colour tone. Found usually in India, South Africa, USA and Turkey. Ranging from semi translucent to opaque it has a bright aqua blue tone. With it’s calming colour it is thought to be linked with trust, emotional balance and harmony.

Green White Jade:

Green White Jade is an unusual gemstone. It’s actually a teal blue shade and is mostly found in Myanmar, Canada and India. It is semi translucent and varies in tone from mid to vibrant. Known as a protective stone it is linked with bringing the wearer harmony and attracting good luck and friendship.

The gemstone designs are crafted in India. The studio specialises in hand cutting the array of semi-precious stones and setting the individual pieces. The precious metal designs are created in Thailand where there is a long history in skilled silversmithing. Pieces are worked by hand in small batches to produce the perfect quality and finish.

ETHICS:

All materials and raw elements used are ethically sourced. 10% of the silver used is recycled or reclaimed silver given a second life to help assist sustainability.

WORKMANSHIP:

Workmanship is always a top priority for the team thereby quality materials are of utmost importance. The range is predominantly 925 silver with some pieces plated as 14ct gold or rose gold vermeil. The team work with over 50 different natural gemstones and these are cut and polished to set in the unique designs.

Each piece of jewellery is meticulously made by skilled experts using traditional methods of moulds and stone setting. A lot of these relationships are a result of Sarah and Alexander’s love of travelling which has been crucial to the development of their business. It’s enabled them to connect with the talented craftsmen and women who produce the beautiful end products.
